Verification Policy

Last updated: 13 February 2026

We take verification seriously. This page explains how we confirm installer credentials and what our verification badges mean.

MCS Certification Verification

MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) certification is the industry standard for renewable energy installations. We verify MCS status by:

  • Cross-referencing our installer database with the official MCS register
  • Periodically re-checking certification status to catch expirations or revocations
  • Displaying the MCS Certified badge only for installers with confirmed, active certification

Installers without confirmed MCS certification are still listed but are not shown as MCS certified. Users can filter listings to show only MCS-certified companies.

What "Verified" Means

A "verified" badge on an installer profile indicates that we have confirmed the following:

  • The company exists and is currently trading
  • Contact information (website, phone, email) has been validated
  • Business registration details have been checked where available

Verification does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee of workmanship. We recommend always getting multiple quotes and checking references before hiring any installer.

Review Verification

Reviews displayed on our platform come from established third-party review platforms:

  • Google Reviews — aggregated from Google Business profiles
  • Trustpilot — sourced via the Trustpilot API
  • Checkatrade — from verified customer feedback
  • Which? Trusted Traders — from the Which? assessment programme

We display ratings and review counts as reported by these platforms. We do not manipulate, filter, or selectively display reviews from these sources.

Data Refresh Schedule

We refresh our verification data on a regular schedule:

  • MCS certification: checked against the MCS register during data syncs
  • Review ratings: updated when installer profiles are refreshed
  • Business status: re-verified during periodic data quality audits

Reporting Inaccuracies

If you believe an installer's verification status is incorrect, or if you have concerns about any listed company, please contact us. We investigate all reports and update our records accordingly.
