Border Hydro unfortunately caused damage to our off grid system in 2023. We were unable to come to an agreement about liability so the case went to the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC) and then the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR). In August 2025 CEDR instructed Border Hydro to make a payment to me but Border Hydro have missed two separate payment deadlines. They currently owe me over £23,000. Please beware when using this company. EDIT (October 2025): After missing the second payment deadline, Border Hydro have (through RECC) proposed a payment plan over six months, but only if I remove this review. I have responded to say that I will happily update this review if/when their debt is settled. The money is urgently needed to repair our off-grid system, otherwise we face a third consecutive winter with only a diesel generator for power. 11/10/25: After giving Border Hydro a final deadline before taking this to County Court, they have paid £14,000 of the £23,066.72 owed. While they are still in breach of the adjudication decision and we still have to take out a loan to repair the system, we don't have to borrow quite as much. 10/12/25: Border Hydro have paid the remainder of the settlement and said "Border Hydro extends its apologies for any inconvenience or distress this matter may have caused."
